UPDATED: Albuquerque Slam Finals

Mikaela says:
Tonight's the final competition for this year's Albuquerque Slam Team. You know, the team that WON Nationals right here in the Q last August.

All your favorites will be vying for 4 spots tonight.

If you don't already have tickets, you're probably screwed. This thing sells out EARLY. But give it a shot. I know I bought a ticket that's going unused. Pobrecita Maggie...

Outpost Performance Space

UPDATE:

The winners Saturday, now your Albuquerque Slam Team to compete for the National Poetry Slam title in Austin:

Hakim Bellamy
Lee Francis
Jessica Lopez
Damien Flores

It was a FANTASTIC show. Hakim was brilliant. Lee rocked the house with his theatrical style and solid poems. Damien showed humor, range, and young wisdom. His poem about chess with his father-in-law secured him a spot on the team. The real star of the show was Jessica, a fairly new voice to slam. She's getting a masters in women's studies, and she brings the full force of her intelligence, beauty, and gorgeous voice to poems that speak with authority and understanding about women and society. She's an incredible asset and welcome addition to the team.

With this eclectic and diverse team, we're gonna give them a run for their money in Austin. Here's to bringing home the title for the second year! Go get em, A-B-Q!
